Q: will this device allow me to tether?

A: I think that tethering is related to a wireless hotspot given by your phone, and I don't believe is a bluetooth signal. Tethering your phone (if Iphone) requires a monthly payment on your phone plan, I think. Tethering your Android phone is free, should be an app you can install or something. Overall answer: no this will not help you.

Q: Will this work with Creative D100 Wireless Bluetooth Speaker (Black) ?

A: I will not recommend this device as is not working properly for any device i tried to connect so far.

Q: Is is compatible with Linux?

A: Yes it does. At least the one I received works with Ubuntu, Debian, and Windows 7. On Debian GNU/Linux, basically install the bluetooth package. Installing something like blueman (GTK), GNOME bluetooth, or bluedevil (KDE) would give a easy program for setting up pairing and stuff. There is also the bluetooth-agent program.
